3G iPad data plans overview

TidBITS has a nice write-up on the two 3G data plans from AT&T.

Some key points:

  • The plans auto-renew each month. If you want 3G data access for just that month, you *have* to cancel before the next billing cycle.
  • When you sign up, you create an ID that’s unrelated to any existing AT&T & iTunes account.
  • Any account that’s unused for 2 months gets deleted (so you have to create it again after that)
  • Streaming video will eat up your 250MB plan *really* quick.

Here’s another tip: If you’re not using the 3G connection, turn off the ‘Cellular Data’ to save power:
